Alfred Fränkel – TURUL Schuhfabrik

The grandfather of John Kerry (American politician and diplomat, currently serving as the first United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate. He previously served as the 68th United States Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017.), Fritz Kohn, led a shoe factory in Mödling until 1904. The Kerry grandfather, born in 1873 in Silesian Horni Benesov, moved with his family via Vienna to Mödling. There he lived vis-a-vis the shoe factory at Schillerstrasse 67 - the building is still standing today. In 1891 Kohn had completed the Mödlinger Gymnasium and then became authorized officer in the shoe factory of his uncle Alfred Fränkel.
